A bout between Light heavyweight Tyson Pedro and Saparbek Safarov kicked off tonight’s (Sat., February 10, 2018) UFC 221 PPV card from the Perth Arena in Perth, Australia.
Tyson Pedro and Safarov exchanged strikes in the standup for most of the opening round, with Safarov doing his best to turn the bout into a grappling game. Safarov sought a takedown against the fence, Pedro looked for a kimura and locked it on, but Safarov tried to sneak it out. Pedro has a hold of Safarov’s arm in a scramble, and he’s got the kimura sweep! That kimura is locked in, and Safarov taps.
Tyson Pedro improved his record to 7-1. Safarov dropped to 8-0, 0-2 in the UFC.
