Daniel Cormier, UFC light-heavyweight champion successfully defended his title tonight at UFC 220 as he defeated Volkan Oezdemir via TKO in the second round.
Daniel Cormier returned to the UFC Octagon for the first time since being knocked out by Jon “Bones” Jones at UFC 214. That fight was later overturned when Jones failed a drug test.
The light heavyweight champ is clearly still in the prime of his fighting career, and would seem to have few viable challengers remaining in the talent-starved light heavyweight division. He is 20-1 overall.
Volkan Oezdemir, meanwhile, loses for the first time in the UFC Octagon, after impressive defeats of Ovince Saint Preux, Misha Cirkunov, and Jimi Manuwa. He’s 15-2 overall.
