Tyron Woodley, a UFC welterweight champion goes off on UFC president Dana White over Nate Diaz fight fiasco.
Earlier in the week, Woodley spoke to ESPN about potentially fighting with Nate Diaz next.
Recently, Dana White appeared on UFC Tonight and said that Woodley was “full of sh*t” when he revealed he had been offered a title fight versus supposedly returning fan favorite Nate Diaz.
Tyron Woodley took White’s remarks seriously and wanted to clear the situation while speaking on his ‘Hollywood Beatdown’ segment on TMZ Sports.
“I don’t want people to think that I’m full of sh*t, as my boss said. And that I’m making this sh*t up. That a fight with me and Nate was never talked about in December and has never been brought up since then — that is bullshit. It has. Did I get a contract to fight Nate? No, I did not. So, if I’m not thinking about the highest prize as a prizefighter, I am a complete idiot. I should suicide slap myself.”
Woodley clarified his stance that he never said he inked the contract, it was just an initial opening negotiation. He thinks White went too far with his words.
“I’m entitled to think whatever the hell I want to thin. I didn’t say, ‘Hey, the UFC has a bout agreement, we’re in the process of negotiations, Dana White called me and offered me the fight.’ So everyone took that and they ran through the roof with their perception of what that meant.”
Tyron Woodley somewhat in a hysterical way said he wanted to punch White in the face and wasn’t the only fighter in the UFC roster who wanted to sock the brash frontman.
“Let’s punch Dana White in the face. I know so many fighters on the UFC roster may have been wanting to do this for a long time.
“You gotta get these hands. Can’t hide behind the black suit and the promotion anymore. You gotta get this right hand.”
Tyron Woodley last competed against Damian Maia back in July last year which he won via decision. Meanwhile, Nate hasn’t fought after a defeat to Conor Mcgregor which was back in the August of 2016. So both fighters need a really big comeback fight and given Diaz’s antics in the octagon, more people would be interested in this matchup. However, White thinks Rafael Dos Anjos is the next contender for the Welterweight Champion.
