Tyron Woodley Says His Fight Versus Conor McGregor Is Acceptable Only If Conor Defeats Khabib

Tyron Woodley: “If Conor McGregor Wins, Then The Only Fight That Makes Sense Is For Him To Fight Me”

Tyron Woodley was looking for a super fight since his UFC Welterweight belt victory over Robbie Lawler at UFC 201 on July 30, 2016. He was trying to face Georges St-Pierre for a very long period of time. Unfortunately, GSP recently explained that he is not interested in fighting The Chosen One. But Tyron Woodley started hunting more popular opponent after that.

In the recent interview, Tyron Woodley discovered he will be working the desk at UFC 229. Also, he didn’t hide his interest in the fight versus Conor McGregor. But it can be a possibility only if Conor defeats Khabib. (via MMAFighting.com)

“I’ll be there. I’ll be working the desk,” Woodley said. “I would think that if Khabib’s really about that action, he’s going to do what he says and it’s going to be really tough for Conor to have any lead in that arm to throw that knockout punch in the fourth or fifth round, so I would say Khabib [wins]. But just for selfish purposes, if Conor wins, then the only fight that makes sense is for him to fight me. Try to get a third belt.”

Let’s look back. There were rumors after Conor’s KO victory over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 that the Irishman plans to go the division up. He has already done two Welterweight fights versus Nate Diaz at UFC 202 and UFC 196. Woodley and McGregor have already had a tensed moment at the UFC 205 weigh-in.

But Tyron Woodley is sure about the outcome if they ever face. He stated that no fighter has ever defeated him with one tool. According to T-Wood, the only thing Conor McGregor has is one punch.

“Conor thought he wanted smoke and then he realized he really didn’t,” Woodley said. “I would smash him. He’s too little. He’s got one punch. What fighter have I ever fought that’s been able to beat me with one tool?”

Tyron Woodley is on the top of UFC Welterweight division since UFC 201. Maybe he is not an interesting fighter to watch but he defeats everybody in his way. Stephen Thompson was the only one who nearly took his belt at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016. The fight ended in a draw. Woodley then won Thompson in a rematch at UFC 209. He also defeated Demian Maia at UFC 214 and Darren Till at UFC 228. The fight versus Colby Covington came out as a possibility but T-Wood pulled back due to hand surgery. But it might happen when he recovers.

Woodley says his fight versus Conor McGregor would be the highest paid match of his career. When asked about Khabib Vs Conor prediction, he was very clear – mind chooses Khabib, legacy and money vote for Conor.

“From my analyst hat, my mind says Khabib, but my bank account and my legacy say Conor. I would take that fight in a heartbeat,” Woodley said.

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor will collide at the main event of UFC 229 on October 6th. If you are a fan of Tyron Woodley, better hope Conor will smash Khabib with one-punch KO. After all, the match between Woodley and McGregor might break PPV (pay-per-view) record very easily!
