Current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has a targeted date in mind for his comeback.
Woodley shares an update with MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani that he’s hoping to return to Octagon at upcoming PPV event at UFC 227 on Aug. 4 in Los Angeles.
“Spoke to UFC welterweight champion @TWooodley earlier today. He said his surgically-repaired shoulder has fully healed, and he’s hoping to fight on the Aug. 4 UFC 227 card in Los Angeles. Nothing finalized yet.”

Woodley is sidelined for some time now due to a bum shoulder. ‘The Chosen One’ tore his labrum in a successful title defense over Brazilian veteran Demian Maia at UFC 214 last summer. But he corrected the issue after undergoes successful shoulder surgery back in December.
Woodley captures the welterweight title at UFC 201 with a sensational first-round knockout of Robbie Lawler in 2016. He then defended the belt twice with winning decisions over Stephen Thompson and Maia.
As per Helwani Woodley is fully recovered. Nothing is official yet, but Woodley is expected to face the winner of Rafael Dos Anjos Vs. Colby Covington. The 170-pound contenders will clash for an interim welterweight title fight at UFC 225.
If by any chance the winner couldn’t challenge Woodley upon his return, there are few other options which can choose from. Rising welterweight Kamaru Usman scores the biggest win of his career coming off a decision win over Demain Maia in the main headliner of UFC’s debut in Chile. The other options including Stephen Thompson will square off Darren Till in the headliner of this weekend’s UFC Liverpool (UFC Fight Night 130) and former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will square off against outspoken Colby Covington for the interim welterweight title at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view event.
The UFC 227 PPV event is set to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Here are few updated scheduled bouts for above card:
Champ T.J. Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt – for the bantamweight title
Derek Brunson vs. Antonio Carlos Junior
Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodriguez
Bethe Correia vs. Irene Aldana
