Holy shit. Are you kidding me? El Cucuy!? If you haven’t seen this fight, this is a public service announcement that the contents contained within will not do it justice, but we shall try. Tony “T-Furg” Ferguson was on an eight fight win streak and fit right into the slot of “is this dude the real deal” as we wait for him to fight someone that may derail him. Rafael dos Anjos was supposed to be that dude, but Ferguson said, nah bro, not on my watch, son.
Both guys landing in round 1! All the feels right now!!! #UFCMexico https://t.co/DXZXRaLbu2

These guys started at a pace that would give a hummingbird a heart attack and just kept going. Both would land, hard. Ferguson would be like a damn slithery serpent avoiding punches and coming back with his own at bizarre angles. In juxtaposition, RDA would just smash through things with cement jabs and teeth-shattering crosses.
.@RdosAnjosMMA lands. @TonyFergusonXT lands.
WHAT A ROUND! #UFCMexico https://t.co/sMCRUZfNrl

From smacking himself on his stomach, talking trash and even Genki Sudo-ish dancing, Ferguson seemed to get in his groove (pun intended) as the fight went on. He picked up on RDA’s timing, returned pressure and didn’t care at all if he got hurt in the process of dealing pain.

At the end of an epic battle that really needed more than even five rounds, Ferguson would get a unanimous decision and finally receive “elite” nomenclature. With Khabib, Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor all fighting at UFC 205, it’ll be interesting to see how this dangerous and funky El Cucuy fits into all this.
