Tony Ferguson Michael Chandler

Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Chandler is all but set.

It was reported in recent months that the two exciting lightweights would collide at some point in the future only for no real progress.

That was, until today.

As per Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, the pair will be competing in a three-round lightweight bout set to take place at the UFC 274 pay-per-view event taking place May 7 in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Breaking: UFC 274 now includes a lightweight bout between Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler, per @JustinBarrasso 👊”

Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler Looking To Snap Losing Streaks

Both fighters will be looking to return to the win column at UFC 274.

Ferguson is currently on a three-fight losing skid following defeats to Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. Chandler, meanwhile, has lost two in a row following defeats to Oliveira and Gaethje.

Interestingly enough, it looked like Ferguson and Chandler would compete against each other in 2020 as well as last year. However, 2022 will be the year they finally lock horns.

Another interesting tidbit is the fact that UFC 274 is headlined by a lightweight title fight between Oliveira and Gaethje, making the event an all-lightweight affair at the top of the card.

Should any fighter pull out from the main event, there is no doubt one of Ferguson or Chandler will be stepping in.

But for now, they’ll be facing each other in what can only be guaranteed fireworks — especially if Chandler keeps the fight standing.
