Tom Lawlor sort of just became the M-1 Global heavyweight champion

The beef between Vinny and M-1’s director of operations Evgeni Kogan runs deep. According to Vinny, Evgeni Kogan is allegedly punishing him by not releasing him from his M-1 contract and forcing him to only compete at the end of his contract.  On top of that, Kogan has also allegedly been seen booing him during his fights.  Vinny’s response has been an ongoing twitter onslaught against Evgeni Kogan and M-1 Global, calling the title ‘worthless‘ and even going as far as offering to trade it straight up for tacos. As of Friday morning, Magalhaes has given his belt to UFC Middleweight Tom Lawlor as a reward for helping him break 6000 followers on twitter.  So it’s kind of official: Tom Lawlor is now the M-1 Global heavyweight champion.
We hope this Vinny/Evgeni beef works itself out and we can somehow understand exactly what M-1 Global’s was thinking with these business decisions regarding their heavyweight champion.  While it’s unlikely Vinny will re-sign with the Russian organization, there are credible rumors that several other organizations have shown interest in signing him immediately upon that contract running its course.  In the meantime, I hope that someone would offer Vinny the tacos he wants regardless of getting the belt or not.  Everyone needs tacos.
