- Tom Aspinall explained why he thinks Stipe Miocic should be pulled out of his title fight with Jon Jones
- “Bones” declared he will be retired at age 37
Tom Aspinall remains desperate to get a crack at Jon Jones before the heavyweight champion retires.
Tom wants Stipe ‘Biden’d’
Even before stopping Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, “Honey Badger” has been yearning to take on “Bones” in a title fight. Speaking to UFC on TNT Sports, Aspinall revealed that not one bit has changed in his plea and in fact, he even pointed out a few reasons why he is more deserving of a match with Jones than Stipe Miocic.
“Get Stipe out of there. Let’s be honest. The guy is 43 years old, he’s had a four-year layoff, and his last fight was a knockout loss. Granted, he’s an absolute legend in this sport. He’s the best heavyweight ever, like statistically, he’s the best heavyweight ever. But the guy needs to be pulled out of the race,” Aspinall said. “The guy needs to be Joe Biden’d, mate. He’s too old. No one’s that interested anymore. And I respect Stipe a lot. Pull him out, stick me in. It’s right though, isn’t it? It is right.”

Jones has other things in mind
Indeed, Aspinall’s take on the situation is clear as day but on the other hand, Jones appears to be uncertain about what he wants to happen next. In a response to a random fan on social media, “Bones” said he is retiring at 37, which is his current age.
“Fun fact after this year Jon Jones will never have to work again,” Jones wrote. “Retired at age 37. Winning.”

If Jones will be true to his word, it means that Aspinall only has 11 months left to secure a bout with “Bones.”
As it stands, Miocic will still be Jones’ next opponent. However, UFC president Dana White confirmed that the winner should and would fight Aspinall.
