Remember when the UFC cared about the welterweight title? Those were good days. BJ Penn, GSP… Ah. Life was good. It seemed like the year Johny Hendricks had the title they cared more about promoting him than they have Robbie Lawler or this fight. This is arguably the most under-hyped fight every at 170 pounds or below. I mean, yeah, we’ve seen some poorly promoted flyweight, bantamweight and even featherweight fights, but it’s interesting to know that despite the 145 pound madness that is headlining the card, the lack of promotion is working it’s way up the weight classes.
What a bummer, because this fight will be great. We all love Robbie, and we all love MacDonald. We also love GSP and Conor, but let’s all take a moment to really give these men a chance to shine. They deserve it. Hopefully the next few days ramps up the welterweight hype. I want it.
