Ah these media calls and their earth shattering announcements. The last time the media was informed of an ‘announcement’ on a conference call, Brock Lesnar dropped out of UFC 131 against Junior Dos Santos due to diverticulitis. A lot of you aren’t going to believe this, but I typed ‘diverticulitis’ correctly the first time, without the use of a Google search. That must be some sort of complicated sign that I will incorrectly interpret and end up waging some religious war in a third-world country. Just kidding, folks.
If any of you had the expectation that you were going to witness Gina Carano in her first MMA bout since her loss to Cris Cyborg in Strikeforce nearly two years ago, then you’re going to be a little disappointed. Scott Coker informed the media that Gina Carano could not get medical clearance in time for June 18th in her scheduled return to Strikeforce. According to Coker, Gina Carano’s medical clearance was revoked by doctors. Further tests will be conducted in the next few days to see what exactly went — haywire.
KJ Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal is set to replace Carano’s bout with Sarah D’Alelio. That’s the silver lining, a really amazing lightweight bout. Finally, silver lining I can believe in.
