There is a chance Ricky Hatton may go to the UFC

Great. Just what MMA needs, more incredibly accurate fighters with enough endurance to single handily power an entire third-world country. Guess that pretty much eliminates my chance of joining that tomato-can league Frank Trigg nominated me for. I want to fight guys that are uncoordinated, sloppy and avid fans of reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation. That’s who I want to fight, I can go three rounds with a guy that used to program ‘Drug Wars‘ on his TI-83 in high school. Because who really wants to fight Ricky Hatton?

Dude is 45-2 and both losses have come from hands down two of the best light welterweights in boxing…that probably will never fight each other. In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Hatton seems to be interested in learning MMA and Randy Couture has put a bid for Ricky Hatton to migrate to the UFC and has even offered to train him.

“I am a big fan of Ricky Hatton. He is a fantastic fighter. I could get him up to speed on the ground wrestling part of it, while he could take advantage of his boxing talent.

“He could make a big difference in the lighter categories.”

“A lot of boxers have trouble putting themselves in the situation where they are going to get choked and taken down. But if he can learn the ways of UFC then he could go a long way.

Ricky Hatton managed to stop blushing to say he would be up for a little UFC action.

“It is all action, proper fighting…They are going the right away about it to get people interested.

“There is a concern in boxing that UFC is taking its place. People seem to get more value for money.

UFC would be right up my street, I used to kickbox so maybe I would be all right.”

Ricky Hatton in the UFC. Now can we finally get Pac-Man vs. Mayweather…cage or ring, I don’t think anyone cares at this point. Winner gets a six-figure contract in the UFC and automatically is the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 10 (Sorry Roy Nelson). [Source]
