The super-slow 'Phantom Cam' highlights from UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez are mind bending

So FOX has this really slick proprietary technology called ‘Phantom Cam’ that enables the world to see sporting events played back in super-slow mode. That’s cool, but it’s 2013 — they need to step their game up. We need to see sporting events in slow-mode, but in real-time. That’s right, we need a camera to distort the fabric of time and space so that all movements in the Octagon are seen as super slow to the observer outside the Octagon and of course at home on their sofa.

In order to pull this off, a gravitational field needs to be created that would serve as a ‘bubble’ around the Octagon. Inside this bubble, time would function as normal but the gravitational field would distort time for the observer and make it appear that it’s happening at a very slow pace, maybe even 20x below the normal speed. A fight that would normally take 15 minutes would take five hours, enabling FOX to run an entire season of Family guy between rounds. Alright, maybe not that long — but you get the drift.

That technology hasn’t been invented yet (nor will scientists ever be smart enough to manifest something like that), but we do have the Phantom Cam highlights from UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez, and they’re pretty friggin’ sweet.
