The rumors are true: Nate Marquardt is out, Charlie Brenneman is in at UFC on Versus 4

Minutes ago I received a text message from a very reliable source with the words ‘Nate out, Breadman.’ At a first glance, it appeared to be some fashionista informing me that something called ‘Breadman’ is in for the summer of 2011. ‘Great!’, I thought. I have an unopened loaf of white bread sitting on my counter. I’m already ahead of the trend. That’ll show these hipsters in Hollywood. Moments later, I realized ‘Breadman’ is English for ‘Brenneman’ and that he would be replacing Nate Marquardt in tomorrow’s UFC on Versus 4 card. Keep in mind, the news came down just two hours before weigh-ins (which the stream was apparently canceled due to technical difficulties).

While the UFC hasn’t confirmed the Charlie Brenneman has replaced Nate Marquardt, it’s 100% true. I’ve also been told that Pat Barry vs. Cheick Kongo will be the headliner of the event. As for why Marquardt dropped out, I was told that he couldn’t get medical clearance for the bout. Bummer.
