Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida is pretty cool, but what about Nate Diaz?

We called it over a month ago and according to MMA Junkie, Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida is official for UFC 125. It’s not the Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi match-up we all hoped for (which technically could be called Diaz vs. Gomi II based on genetic similarities), but it’s another reason to shell out $59.95 to catch UFC’s New Year’s Eve event. Nate Diaz will be on that same card, but Joe Silva decided to match him up with the undefeated Dong Hyun Kim. We already know that the Diaz brothers aren’t huge fans of Asians, despite Japan’s heavy obsession with anything 209.

I’m sure the UFC has some grand plan in assembling this match-up, but it’s difficult to find a reason why the organization chose not to construct the most intuitive match-up in Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi. On the same card, we will also see the UFC debut of Antonio McKee and hopefully a post-fight interview that involves some more remedial education on Hitler and the Third Reich. Shane Carwin will also bang against Roy Nelson in a match-up to determine who will fight the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs. the winner of Cain Velasquez vs. Brock Lesnar (at least we assume).

The Fireball Kid vs. Blanka. According to the Street Fighter 2 arcade machine I used to play at the grocery store near my house, Clay Guida has the advantage because the joystick never could execute a forward quarter-circle. There was a piece of gum stuck underneath the control dashboard. It changed the entire mechanics of the game and if the guy that shoved the gum under the joystick is reading this, I just hope you realize that you screwed it up for every kid at Sac N’ Save. Damn you. [Source]
