Tai Tuivasa’s UFC Perth return ended with another hard result, and “Bam Bam” put the blame on himself afterward.
Tuivasa lost a unanimous decision to Louie Sutherland on Saturday, extending his losing streak to seven fights. Sutherland stepped in on short notice and used takedowns, clinch control, and long stretches on top to keep Tuivasa from building offense. Tuivasa also had a point deducted late for an illegal knee.
Tuivasa’s record is now 14-10. The Australian heavyweight was born in Sydney, raised in western Sydney, and made his UFC debut in 2017 with a flying-knee knockout of Rashad Coulter. That win made him the first Indigenous Australian to win a UFC fight.

Tuivasa Takes The Blame After Seventh Straight Loss
After the loss, Tuivasa posted a blunt message and apologized to his supporters.
“Sorry, I tried,” Tuivasa wrote. “I felt good. I put in the work. Didn’t get the result. I feel like a shit c*nt. Let my fans down again. Back to the drawing board for me. C*nt of a sport.
“But I will never give up. I’m from western Sydney, you gotta put me out for me to give up. Sorry all my loyal fans, I really am and to my team, love yahs.”
The matchup got away from Tuivasa in the areas that have hurt him throughout this slide. Sutherland did not give him a clean pocket to trade. He closed distance, forced grappling exchanges, and made Tuivasa spend too much time defending from the mat.
The skid now includes losses to Ciryl Gane, Sergei Pavlovich, Alexander Volkov, Marcin Tybura, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Tallison Teixeira, and Sutherland. The latest one carries extra weight because it came in Australia against a short-notice opponent.

Tuivasa has spoken before about retirement crossing his mind during the losing streak, but this message pointed the other way. He still wants to fight. The bigger question is whether the UFC gives him that chance after seven straight defeats.
After his sixth straight defeat, Tuivasa returned quickly. After Sutherland, his next step is less clear.
