T.J. Dillashaw To Demetrious Johnson:“Don’t Be Scared, Man Let’s Get This Done,”

T.J. Dillashaw scored his UFC bantamweight championship after a knockout victory over Cody Garbrandt earlier this month at UFC 217 in Madison Square Garden.

UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw is hoping, again, that flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson will give him a fight.

Dillashaw renewed his call for Johnson to step in and fight. He told TMZ this fight makes sense for both of us.

“He should be (onboard),” Dillashaw told TMZ. “This is the fight that makes the most sense for (him), even more so than me. He needs a fight that’s sellable.”

Demetrious Johnson, recently submitted Ray Borg at UFC 216 in October to set the new UFC record for most consecutive title defenses (11) and broke Anderson Silva’s record for consecutive title defenses-hasn’t lost in more than six years.

Dillashaw is pushing they fight – the matchup between a flyweight and bantamweight, presumably with Dillashaw moving down to 125 pounds division would consider a super fight what fans want to see too. There is a potential for stronger pay-per-view sales than “The Mighty Mouse.” usual to see.

“Demetrious Johnson’s always showed up,” Dillashaw said. “He’s always done his job. He’s always been the better fighter. He’s looked awesome. He’s finished fights – looking great. Really, what it comes down to, is not having an opponent to say, ‘We’re excited about this fight.’ Everyone’s always excited like, ‘Let’s see if Demetrious Johnson can break the record,’ or ‘He’s on this long win streak,’ this, this and that. But they never talk about Demetrious Johnson and who he’s fighting.

“This is a fight that will happen – this is a fight that will get the fans entertained. You’ll be glued to the TV because he’s fighting me, not because he’s just fighting. That’s why he doesn’t sell tickets – because everyone knows what’s going to happen.”

In a much anticipation of a potential match, Johnson is a -140 favorite over Dillashaw, who sits at +110.

Dillashaw earned the bantamweight championship with a second-round knockout of Cody Garbrandt; this win gives him hope that Might Mouse will fight him. UFC president Dana White even said, If Dillashaw can make the weight, he feels confident, (White) I am willing to give the idea a shot (Via MMAJunkie)

“It’s not up to me to feel confident about it,” White said of Dillashaw’s weight cut. “It’s him. Does he feel confident he can make that weight, and he was very confident when I talked to him that he could do it.”

Dillashaw sees this fight as it’s in Johnson’s best financial interest to take this offer.

TJ Dillashaw is chasing Johnson for over a year now and hopeful but not sure if Johnson wants the fight or not.

“Don’t be scared, man. Let’s get this done,” Dillashaw said. “This is the fight that makes sense for you and me. This is the fight the fans want to see. This is the fight I want to see. Not sure if you want to see it, but man up – let’s do it.”
