My fascination with Jon Olav Einemo knows no bounds. It’s just always in the state of forever expanding throughout time and space. In short, my bromance with Jon Olav Einemo is synonymous with the expansion of the universe. I hold galactic appreciation for this guy, but you already know this. You’ve heard me refer to Einemo as the closest thing the world has to the living embodiment of an elemental. If it were not for Fabricio Werdum grabbing a unanimous decision over Einemo back in Pride, Olav would have been tapped for that year’s Pride Total Elimination Absolute Grand-Prix instead of Werdum and he would have faced his teammate, Alistair Overeem. Well, former teammate now. However, now that it’s being reported that Jon Olav Einemo is back in the UFC, it appears both fighters have a chance of meeting inside the Octagon in the immediate future.
You’re probably wondering why Einemo was cut after he lost his debut bout while simultaneously grabbing Fight of the Night honors against Pee-Wee Herman at UFC 131. Well, we don’t have a clear answer to that, but it has been hypothesized that Golden Glory’s involvement with handling payments for their roster may be the reason. Now that Jon is back in the UFC (with Siyar Bahadurzada on the verge of signing with the organization), it appears that all has been forgiven in the world of MMA. At least for now. Cue the Unsolved Mysteries theme song. [Source]
