Strikeforce: Evolution beat WEC 45 in ratings

Despite having a lower subscriber rate, Strikeforce: Evolution pulled a higher viewership than WEC 45. This marks the first time in MMA history a ZUFFA broadcast has not placed first in ratings when counterprogrammed with a competing MMA organization. That’s a really long, complicated way to say more people watched Strikeforce: Evolution (341,000 viewers) than WEC 45 (330,000 viewers) last weekend. Here is a quick breakdown by Card from the UG.

Showtime trends:
Strikeforce: Evolution 341,000 viewers
Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg 576,000
Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields 275,00 viewers
Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz 365,000 viewers

WEC trends:
WEC 45: 330,000
WEC 44: 411,000
WEC 43 419,000
WEC 42 670,000
WEC 41 1,300,000

It’s also important to note that Showtime has approximately 12,000,000 subscribers while Versus, despite being dropped by DirecTV, is available in 75,000,000 households.  That means 2.8% of homes that are subscribed to Showtime watched Strikeforce: Evolution on December 19th while only 0.4% of people that subscribed to Versus watched WEC 45. I would have published this article hours ago but I had to confirm the percentages with a chick I used to copy Algebra homework off of in 6th grade. If Math were kryptonite, I would have died in elementary school. [Source
