Sean Strickland has taken some shots at women’s MMA.
In his latest rant, the controversial UFC Middleweight contender went off on women fighting in the UFC Octagon, which was first introduced back in 2013 with Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche.
A decade later, women have sat atop dozens of cards with the last UFC headliner taking place between Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill. UFC 290, the promotion’s next pay-per-view, will also feature ladies in the main event with Amanda Nunes defending her bantamweight title against Irene Aldana.
Strickland Says Amanda Nunes Looks Like ‘Sheeva’ From Mortal Kombat
When asked about the upcoming headliner, Strickland blanked for a second on Nunes and claimed he had no clue who Aldana was. Strickland put a face to a name on Nunes… but, it was the wrong face.
“I don’t know either of those people,” Strickland said on ‘The Man Dance’ podcast. “Wait, Nunes is that big girl, right? Brazilian chick? She kinda looks like the thing in Street Fighter… the thing with the arms that has like a big forehead. She has like multiple arms. [Sheeva from] Mortal Kombat, there we f*cking go. [Nunes looks like her] a little bit.”
“Is it like a title fight?” Strickland said of Nunes vs. Aldana.
‘You Wanna See Two Men Fight’
Strickland would go on to explain why he isn’t so much a fan of women’s MMA.
“If you go on YouTube right now and you have an option between watching two random guys fight or two chicks fight, they’ve never trained, are you gonna watch the two assholes fight who’ve never trained? Or are you gonna watch the two chicks fight who’ve never trained? You wanna see two men fight.
“Here’s the thing, man, there are some great women, women fights, but it’s like even if you take a small champion, a small champion could go fuck up an NFL player… It’s highly likely that [Brandon Moreno] goes and fucks up an NFL linebacker. Highly likely. I still put my money on on Brandon. Now you take Amanda Nunes and you have em’ go fight a NFL linebacker, the linebacker is gonna be like, ‘did I just feel wind hit my face?'”
‘These B*tches Do Not Know How To Fight’
‘Tarzan’ wouldn’t stop with his tangent with Strickland claiming that it doesn’t take much to earn a belt if you’re a female fighter, especially if ‘you don’t completely suck’ in his own words.
“This is a really good time to be like, if you’re a woman and you don’t completely suck, you have a very legitimate shot to be an MMA champion.
“Tatiana Suarez is next to me [during Shevchenko vs. Grasso], she has such a good wrestling background didn’t she beat that girl [Alexa Grasso]? She beat that girl. And you’re watching this girl like f*cking pull guard and do crazy sh*t. I’m looking at Tatiana like, man, like you’re gonna be the next champion. These b*tches do not know how to fight.”
