Strap on Your Tinfoil Hat, This Video Unlocks the UFC 162 Anderson Silva/Chris Weidman Conspiracy

Would a professional fighter — a world Champion at that — throw a fight against an opponent that he personally helped to hype up? That is a question that a lot of fight fans were asking last night and today, even though Dana White went on a tirade about the fight being “fixed” being really dumb. Maybe it wasn’t fixed in the conventional sense, but maybe Anderson Silva had no intention of winning the fight against Chris Weidman?

It sounds outlandish, but it could very well be the reality if this video of a pre-fight interview with Anderson Silva can be believed. In the video at around the five minute mark the interviewer asks Anderson Silva what the perfect outcome of the bout with Chris Weidman would be. Anderson then jokes about the crowd cheering Weidman’s name and says Chris Weidman as the UFC Middleweight Champion would be the perfect outcome.

He goes on to explain that he is very tired and that he just keeps winning fights, that it has worn him down. We all know that Anderson Silva is on his own orbit, but is he crazy enough to try to lose against someone just so that he can “rest” a bit? You decide. It sounds a little too Dan Brown for my tastes.
