If The Hunger Games ever happens for reals, I would like to preselect Elina Nilsson as my district’s tribute. Not only is she a badass Muay Thai and MMA artist, but she made Sweden’s National Orienteering team. What’s orienteering? It’s basically where you run through unknown woods with a map and compass, and navigate your way to control points in a swift and intense fashion. In short, Katniss better watch herself.
Elina has been training at Vegas’ Drysdale Jiu-Jitsu and Extreme Couture in preparation for her fight against fellow Muay Thai specialist Julia Budd. The bout will be contested in Invicta Fighting Championship’s blossoming 145-lb division. Both ladies come into the fight with an even 2-2-0 record. Julia’s most recent fight left her with a deconstructed elbow, courtesy of one Ms. Rousey. Elina is coming off a TKO win over UK top-prospect Danielle West.
If this fight doesn’t get shut down in a wrestling style stalemate, we ladies over at the Roundup are predicting another explosive Young vs Smith-esque showdown.
I know having to watch a 5’10, blonde, Swedish female fighter on a free, high-quality internet stream is terribly taxing, but do us a solid and extend your horizons this July 28th. Check out Elina’s interview below and then watch Invicta Fighting Championship 2 at www.invictafc.com Saturday, July 28th at 6pm Central.
All the ladies of Invicta are very socially active by order of their creed, so hop on over to Elina’s Twitter and Facebook and cheer her on.
