Michael Johnson Fought Amazingly And Landed More Clean Strikes During The First Two Rounds, But Stevie Ray Woke Up In The Third And Punished Him With Big Ground Shots!
UFC Fight Night 162 is going down live now (Saturday, October 26, 2019) from inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
The 155 lbs contest between TUF 12 tournament finalist Michael “Menace” Johnson and the former BAMMA and Cage Warriors champ Stevie “Braveheart” Ray co-headlines the event.
Ray sports gray shorts and blue gloves, while Johnson is in red gloves and black trunks. The third man inside the cage is Leon Roberts. Here we go!
Round 1
Fighters touch gloves. Low kick, good movement by Johnson. Johnson defends takedown attempt. Low kick to the calf Ray.
Good trade on both sides. Right hook Ray. Low kick Ray again, “Menace” fires back with a combo. Big right cross by Johnson, Ray survives.
1-2 Ray, but Johnson ducks under. Good counter by Stevie. High kick blocked. Right low kick Johnson. Fists are flying, but no significant blows. Ray misses with a low kick. Two hooks by Stevie Ray and Michael retreats, but covers up well, Ray lands another low kick to the calf.
Left straight Ray. Low kick countered by a big left cross. Michael ducks under and lands body shots. I am unsure who won this round.
Round 2
Glove touch. Tactical battle at the beginning of the round. Superb left-hand counter by Johnson! Two jabs by Johnson, Ray’s chin felt that. Question mark kick Ray, Johnson moves his head. Another big left hand by Menace, Johnson eats big low kick.
Fighters trade shots. 1-2 Michael, Ray retreats and counters with a left cross. Wow, this left hand landed clean! Low kick Johnson. Ray shoots in, stuffed.
Wonderful counter by Johnson, world-class boxing, Ray challenges him to attack. Wonderful trade on both sides! Body shot Johnson. Super-quick jab Michael. Big left hand “Menace”.
Ray is bleeding, he ate two big hooks. Right low kick Johnson. Two big straight punches to the nose, Ray fires back with a low kick. Body kick Michael. 10-9 Johnson.
Round 3
Glove touch. Good combo Johnson. And another one. Ray circles, but eats a big left hand. Body shot Johnson.
Johnson landed more significant head strikes. Ray shoots in, stopped. Johnson ate another low kick. Uppercut-hook combo. Johnson lands body shots at will.
Ray takes him down and punishes him off the back. Big punches! Johnson turtled, Ray pours shots over and over, will the referee stop this?
Body triangle Ray, Johnson is in trouble. Michael defends well, Ray cannot put the hand under his chin. Johnson finally tries to roll and change position, but Ray doesn’t let him go.
Oh, these are big punches, Ray is trying to finish the fight, big strikes off the top. The referee is not stopping the match. Big hammer-fists. Johnson transitions off the cage, but Ray punishes him with big elbows off the top! 10-8 Ray.
