Steve Garcia made his main-event debut at UFC Vegas 110 an unforgettable one, overwhelming David Onama with nonstop offense until referee Herb Dean waved it off late in the opening round. The victory, which came at 3 minutes 34 seconds, pushed Garcia’s winning streak to seven and marked his sixth knockout in his past seven bouts.

Right from the opening bell inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Garcia came forward throwing heavy combinations, forcing Onama to retreat almost immediately. Mixing body and head attacks, Garcia’s pace left his opponent little time to reset or counter.

Halfway through the round, Garcia connected with a clean shot that stunned Onama, sending him stumbling backward. Smelling the finish, Garcia poured on a torrent of punches that dropped the Ugandan fighter to the mat. Onama got up quickly but was still reeling, and Garcia continued to press with looping hooks and a crisp left hand that sent him down again.

Referee Herb Dean stepped in moments later as Garcia unleashed another series of unanswered strikes, ending the contest before further damage could be done.

Garcia’s message after the finish

Following the stoppage, the Albuquerque native delivered a fiery post-fight message reflecting both gratitude and determination.

“I said this before, my dad told me to be violent in here,” Garcia said. “My dad asks, I try to deliver. I wanted to make something of myself. I came to the UFC, I went on this long fight streak, asked God to make me somebody and I’d do the world. I’m here proving my worth.”

He also made clear that his approach inside the cage is all about decisive finishes.

“In here, this is kill or be killed. I’m like bro, I’m going to get you so you better be ready. I don’t get paid by the hour, I get paid by the minute so I make sure I finish my opponents if it presents itself.”

Garcia’s relentless style kept him on the attack from start to finish, and his ability to maintain volume without fading highlighted just how dangerous he’s become at featherweight. After dispatching Onama, Garcia made a bold callout aimed at one of the sport’s biggest names.

“I’m going to throw a little curveball in there,” Garcia said. “I want the Rocky Balboa story. I want the one with Max Holloway and the ‘BMF’ title. I want that champ. I want that BMF Max Holloway champion right there.”

While a meeting with Holloway seems unlikely given the Hawaiian star’s recent move to lightweight, Garcia’s performance ensures his next fight will come against higher-ranked opposition.

At 31, Garcia continues to evolve into a legitimate contender. His dominant showing at UFC Vegas 110 not only extended his streak but also reaffirmed his place among the featherweight division’s most dangerous finishers.
