Stephen Wonderboy Thompson Wins Tough Decision Against Rory MacDonald

We expected destruction, we expected a war, but instead we got a clinical chess match. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Rory MacDonald went all five rounds in a math equation of a fight. Each fighter had their moments, but Thompson put more and more into each round and fought exactly the kind of fight he needed in order to win. It’ll be interested to see considering this is the last fight on MacDonald’s contact.

MacDonald came in with an Imaniri rolling heel hook that Thompson shucked off. This would be a technique MacDonald would flop on the ground and attack Thompson with multiple times during the fight, each time Thompson would step out and reset. Distance and control is where Thompson shined.

Wonderboy’s clinical style shut down MacDonald and constantly made him fight his type of fight. What’s next for Thompson? The title belt of course. A fight that should’ve happened already had the UFC not left leeway in case Conor McGregor beat Nate Diaz to set up the Robbie Lawler fight.

Watch a pumped Thompson below call out the UFC Welterweight champion.
