Stephen Thompson is putting himself forward as a willing opponent for the Diaz brothers, who are looking to make a comeback this year.

The former UFC welterweight title challenger ‘Wonderboy’ took to Twitter on Monday to express his desire to compete against either Nick Diaz or Nate Diaz.

In the case of a match between one of the brothers, Thomson does not seem to be too picky in terms of who he would take on, because he believes they would both make for compelling matches that would captivate fans.

I’m down to fight @nickdiaz209 or @NateDiaz209! I have nothing but respect for both of those guys and I’m ready to go. Who wouldn’t love good striking battle?! #respect #readytogo

In the last two matches, Thompson lost to Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. In both of those bouts, he was out-grappled, so it’s no wonder he is looking for a match against someone who would grant him the freedom to utilize his patented kickboxing strategy. He had previously defeated Geoff Neal and Vicente Luque by decision.

Nick hasn’t competed since losing to Robbie Lawler by TKO in September, when he made a comeback after having been away from the sport for more than six years. Cesar Gracie, his longtime coach, recently said a return to action is expected sometime this year.

Nate Diaz is itching to get back to the cage and battle out the final fight of his current contract with the UFC.  On social media, Diaz has been venting his frustration and anger at not being able to sign the fight, and at one point he requested a release from the promotion.
