You could spend well over a thousand dollars on a fixed gear bicycle, but it won’t make you look cool. Even when you roll your right pant leg up & skid-stop like a seasoned bike messenger, the moustache and vintage Ray Ban’s are just additional accessories that suggest you’re faking-the-funk. This message isn’t for everyone. You know who you are. In much the same way, training Jiu-Jitsu is a great way of getting a feel for the rigors of MMA but you could spend your entire life trying to live up to the greatness of Wallid Ismail and falling short. It’s cool, nobody is as cool as Wallid Ismail and nobody can fault you for trying. The sooner you admit defeat, you can begin spending a portion of each day building a shrine to honor him. If you’re a painter, we expect a mural defacing city hall. If you’re a sculptor, knock down that statue of Jesus in Rio and replace it with a bronze Wallid towering over Brazil (do it at night, so nobody sees you).
