Bryce Mitchell, a UFC bantamweight, caused a stir online with his comments about the recent car crash involving former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. The accident, which occurred in Nigeria, claimed two lives and left Joshua with minor injuries.
Mitchell suggested the crash was connected to Joshua’s fight against Jake Paul earlier this month at the Kaseya Center in Miami. On Instagram, Mitchell said:
“If you don’t let Jake Paul win, he’s gonna kill you nine days later. Or just kill your two best friends — but somebody’s gonna die if you don’t let him win.”
The comments have drawn heavy criticism and disbelief from fans and the MMA community alike.
Allegations About Fixed Fights
In addition to linking Paul to the crash, Mitchell also suggested the Paul brothers manipulate outcomes in their boxing matches. He stated:
“Jake and Logan both made fun of me (because I’m ‘racist and evil’). Funny how they say they love Jesus but post gy sht all day. Their fights are fixed, wake up.”
These claims have done little to quell backlash, with many dismissing Mitchell’s remarks as unfounded and inflammatory.
Mitchell, 31, has not competed since his decision victory over Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Abu Dhabi last July. Nicknamed “Thug Nasty,” he has built a reputation for outspokenness, but his latest comments have overshadowed his fighting record.
