So Matt Hamill fought with a staph infection and there was blood all over…

I used to work at this 80s bar in Cardiff and this dude would always come up to the door dressed in a creme suit with matching cream gators. He would reach into his jacket pocket and pull out this folded piece of paper that chronicled the US military’s involvement of the AIDS epidemic in the world. The paper had a drawing of a B52 bomber which he said was used to drop the AIDS virus on small countries in Africa. The guy said that aliens from a 10th planet that revolved around our sun was forcing the government to kill off the world’s population with infectious diseases so they could clear the planet for a full scale extraterrestrial colonization starting in 2012. I used to give him balloons. It was the best I could do for him divulging the secrets of the universe in front of a Welsh 80s bar on a Tuesday night.

Staph infection is obviously an infectious disease and apparently the Las Vegas Athletic Commission never had a late-night run in with Mr. Cream Gator guy. Matt Hamill fought with a severe, infectious open wound on his back and he was met with zero resistance. I would say this is one of the greatest oversights by the LVAC this year but we all remember what happened at UFC 112 when Anderson Silva stepped into the octagon without the required handwrap. If you’ve read our list of the Top Ten Staph Infections in MMA History then you already know that the last guy to get staph infection on his back ended up paralyzed in a hospital bed for nearly two years. Let’s hope with all the blood flying around last night on the audience that no one contracted anything. Seriously. Props to Esther Lin of MMAFighting for the photos.
