So it’s true, Sonnen tests positive for steroids and faces a year-long suspension

I went to bed Sunday night under the assumption that Chael Sonnen would somehow put a spin on this whole ‘performance enhancement drug story’ and make it look like Anderson Silva is responsible for it. The infamous Hispanic Chael Sonnen is nowhere to be found. Dude must have caught wind of the story and moved to the UK where steroids are completely legal as long as you can verify that you’re at least eighteen-years-old (and if you can’t, a parent or legal guardian can buy the steroids for you). From the time we first reported the emerging story, a lot of relevant information has surfaced and things don’t look that bright for Chael Sonnen’s MMA career.

Last night, the LA Times confirmed that Chael Sonnen tested positive for steroids and he now faces a year-long suspension and a $2,500 fine. California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer George Dodd also mentioned that Chael Sonnen’s urine went through the UCLA Olympic drug-testing lab and apparently received the gold medal in traces of steroids. Sonnen has thirty days to appeal the decision.

Now what’s slightly more interesting is that as of this morning, a press-release was sent saying that Vitor Belfort vs. Yushin Okami at UFC 122 will determine the number one contender spot in the middleweight division. While this may seem like the winner of Belfort vs. Okami will get a shot at Anderson Silva, the UFC has still not ruled out a rematch of Sonnen vs. Silva which is slated to go down on New Year’s Eve or a day before the Superbowl.

There you have it. Chael Sonnen took steroids prior to UFC 117. It’s an incredible statement to read this early in the morning, but that still does not negate the fact that it is true. With Chael Sonnen facing a potential year-long suspension from the sport, now is a great time to purchase a house from your favorite conservative republican from West Linn, Oregon. [Source]
