Shogun Rua Believes He Deserves The UFC Title Shot Versus Daniel Cormier

Shogun Rua Says He Absolutely Deserve Title Shot

After the surprising victory of Daniel Cormier over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226, DC has a very tough task if he doesn’t want to be stripped – he has to defend two belts. While there is a serious chance of fighting Brock Lesnar in the near future, the 205-pound division looks empty without Jon Jones. The clash of Shogun Rua and Daniel Cormier looks like a realistic possibility.

Shogun Rua is currently ranked eighth in the official rankings but Daniel Cormier mentioned him as the first choice when it comes to UFC Light Heavyweight title defense. The former UFC champ and PRIDE superstar is on board! (via MMAMania.com)

“Winning this fight I absolutely deserve this chance because of my history and my career in MMA,” Rua told MMA Fighting. “But I’m actually not thinking about the belt now because I have a good opponent ahead of me and I can’t think about it. The belt is my dream, of course, but I have to go step by step. I know that I will be closer if I win this fight.”

Shogun Rua (25-10 MMA) has to find a way to defeat extremely dangerous Anthony Smith. You can bet this will be one of the best fights at UFC Fight Night 134 in Hamburg, Germany.

In the case Shogun Rua wins, he might increase his chances of facing the most legendary Olympian wrestler and current two-division champion. After the spectacular showdown with Brock Lesnar inside the octagon, a showman who trash-talked the whole division claiming he is the only and ultimate man here, we highly believe Mauricio Rua should have solid chances.

What are your thoughts, would you like to see the collision of two different fighting styles? Can Mauricio Rua even get a chance to fight DC?
