Shogun Rua Releases Statement After UFC Hamburg Loss
Former PRIDE and UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio Shogun Rua suffered a massive knockout loss by the hands of Anthony Smith in the main headliner of UFC Hamburg in Germany this past weekend.
After a loss, Rua’s title aspirations come to an end, as Daniel Cormier teased that he will defend his 205-pound title against Shogun, now that idea is in the gutter now.
Shortly after the conclusion of the fight, which snapped his three-win streak, released a statement via social media post:
”Unfortunately we don’t always get the result we want, and to understand that fact is part of life,” Rua wrote. “Congratulations to Anthony Smith. For so many times I was celebrating at this moment and I can’t take his merits from him. I dedicated myself, trained hard, and did all that was within my reach for this fight, but he was better yesterday. Life continues, thank you all for the support.”

What’s coming next for Rua is still unknown, hope his recent loss isn’t the beginning of the end.
