Shayna Baszler talks Bethe Correira ahead of UFC 177

Ronda Rousey is undoubtedly the face of women’s MMA, but real OG Shana Baszler is its heart. As the first person to ever win by Twister in MMA, she was locking up first round submissions since before Rousey was in the Olympics. She spearheaded the movement to create an athletic commission in South Dakota. If she hasn’t been through every high and low that the sport has to offer, she’s at the very least seen it happen four or five times.

MiddleEasy caught up with the Queen of Spades outside (literally right outside) of the Glendale Fighting Club where she’s training with the other Four Horsewomen for her UFC debut on August 30th Bethe Correia. Needless to say, Correia is forefront on Baszler’s mind, and the interview focuses on all the ways that the Brazilian has impacted her life and her team.
