Sean Strickland was announced as the next fighter for the UFC middleweight title last night, but he didn’t seem all that excited.

He lost the title in January to Dricus Du Plessis but earned his shot at redemption by defeating Paulo Costa at UFC 302. However, Khamzat Chimaev’s dominant win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 stirred up talk about him challenging for the title as well.

Even though Strickland is now getting his rematch, instead of focusing on his upcoming fight, he took to social media to throw some shade at Chimaev.

Strickland to Face Du Plessis in Middleweight Title Rematch

At UFC 310 on past Saturday night, it was announced that Sean Strickland will be fighting Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title. Du Plessis has looked very strong in his past fights. The co-main event will feature Zhang Weili defending her strawweight title against Tatiana Suarez. UFC 312 will be held at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, with Islam Makhachev facing Arman Tsarukyan in the main event. The co-main event will see Merab Dvalishvili going up against the undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov, with Khabib Nurmagomedov coaching both title fights.

Sean Strickland Fires Shots at Khamzat Chimaev After UFC 312 Fight Announcement

Once the fight was confirmed, Strickland took to Instagram to share a short message and the event poster with his followers.

He wrote: “Time to bring some Violence and Freedom to Australia once more! Deny Depose Defend. No idea where this saying is from or who said it but I like. Real catchy….. but no idea..”

After the fight was announced, Strickland spent most of his time talking to Khamzat Chimaev. He tweeted a lot, using lots of bad words, and said some pretty mean things to Chimaev. He wrote on X, saying all sorts of stuff to his rival.

Once the fight was set, Strickland mostly focused on Khamzat Chimaev. He went on X and sent a bunch of messages, saying some not-so-nice things to Chimaev, using a lot of strong words in his posts. He really let his rival have it.

“I love how c**shot [a crude nickname for Chimaev] will try to talk s*** to me.

“Bro you’re not a man, character level f***ing dog s***… Crypto scams, whored yourself out to kadyrov for cars to fled to middleeast when the pimp hand got to strong. Stay in your lane Swedish man.”

He also answered a fan who posted a picture of them training together and said something funny back.

“Bro literally is scum. I took a hard picture because I’m a small man and have to act tough you s**ked off a dictator for a G wagon and then had to flee to the middle east.. bro isn’t even a f**king man at this point….. Character level.. dog sh*t.”

Sean Strickland replied to Chimaev’s tweet with a funny comment, teasing him about being part of a Bitcoin scam and asking if he was hiding from the police. He said:

“Lmao sorry I don’t speak Chechnyian wh**e… Kadyrov loosen up his leash? You got any Bitcoin scams to peddle? You hiding from any dictators?”

He mentioned that Chimaev would go too hard when training with fighters who weren’t as skilled or experienced. As he stated to one fan:

“He goes too hard on ‘low level guys’. He’s f***ing rag dolling a 3-1 guy lol.”

Sean Strickland had said before that he didn’t want to fight in Australia again. It looked like he was going to make the UFC wait until UFC 313 in Las Vegas for his title fight. However, he’s changed his mind and agreed to fight in Australia.

The last time Strickland fought there, he beat Israel Adesanya to win the championship. He became a fan favorite, though the government officials didn’t seem as excited about the event.
