Sean Strickland has undeniably become one of the best middleweight contenders in the current UFC roster. He is set to face Alex Pereira at UFC 276 next month but “Tarzan” has previously reiterated that he’s got the champion, Israel Adesanya under his radar.

Apparently, there’s no animosity between Adesanya and Strickland. In fact, “Tarzan” had nothing negative to say about Izzy except for one bold claim.

Don’t lie Izzy

In a recent talk with The Schmo, Strickland hinted at the possibility of Jared Cannonier dethroning Adesanya at UFC 276. But while nothing is concrete yet, Strickland decided to spice things up by hilariously mocking the champ over his adulation for cartoons.

“He might be the champ but after July 2nd, he might not be the champ anymore,” Strickland said of Adesanya. “I like Izzy. Besides the anime. He’s a tough motherf**ker. Besides the anime, the guy probably jerks off to cartoons, I hold that against you. I guarantee you Izzy, you have jerked off to cartoons once in your life. Don’t f**king lie to me. Sorry. That needs to be said.”

What the champ’s corner thinks about Strickland

A win over Pereira is likely to catapult Strickland to a title contention. Assuming his pupil will be able to defend his belt, and Strickland will also beat Pereira, Adesanya’s coach Eugene Bareman reckoned that “Tarzan” will be ready for a crack at UFC gold.

“[It] Would be nice for Strickland to win, because Strickland’s body of work is good enough to fight for a title, whereas if Pereira wants it he’s still gotta do more work, you know?,” Bareman told Submission Radio.

UFC 276 is a crucial event for the 185-pound division. Aside from determining whether Adesanya will remain the middleweight king, we’ll also see if Strickland will really be the next in line.
