Sean O’Malley hasn’t fought since he lost his title to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 in September.

Petr Yan, another fighter who used to have a UFC title, has been talking about fighting Sean ever since he won his fight against Deiveson Figueiredo last month.

Petr Yan lost to O’Malley in October 2022 in a very close and controversial fight. Now, he wants to fight Sean again.

What’s Stopping Sean O’Malley from Fighting?

Sean O’Malley said he needed hip surgery after UFC 306. The surgery will keep him out of the ring for about nine months.

Because of this, his rival joked that there might be another reason why Sean isn’t fighting right now.

“I would lean towards a rematch with Sean O’Malley, but I don’t know what’s going on with him,” Yan told Ariel Helwani via translator.

“He’s out for 9-12 months, so maybe he got pregnant… Understand as you wish.”

Petr Yan made a funny comment, and it spread super fast on the internet. Everyone was talking about it.

Yan shared a clip of his comment with the caption: “When is your due date? @SugaSeanMMA.”

Sean O’Malley took Petr Yan’s comment seriously. He said he plans to come back in April for a rematch with Dvalishvili, which might mean Yan won’t have anyone to fight.

Right now, it’s not clear who will get the next chance to fight for Dvalishvili’s title.

O’Malley is ranked first, but after his big loss to Dvalishvili, the champ might not want to wait so long for a rematch.

Umar Nurmagomedov is next in line, but his only big win is over Cory Sandhagen. Many think he needs more wins to prove he deserves a title shot.

Yan is ranked third. He lost to Dvalishvili too, but after a couple of wins, he thinks he could put up a better fight in a rematch.

The other top contenders have all lost their last fights.

UFC president Dana White has a big decision to make, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what happens.
