Sean O’Malley is looking to sell a huge amount of PPV buys for his first UFC title fight.

The UFC is always looking to put their big stars on the pay-per-view cards. These PPV cards are always crowd favorites and the bigger the stars the bigger the money produced by the event. Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest stars in the UFC, now he is heading towards his first title shot later this year. He thinks his title fight against Aljamain Sterling will be a huge money maker and he is taking all the credit.

Sean O’Malley is estimating a huge PPV event for his next time out

O’Malley has been promised the next UFC bantamweight title shot. With Sterling’s win over Henry Cejudo on Saturday night at UFC 288 that fight is now set. O’Malley was critical of the star power of Sterling heading into his last fight and now believed that thanks to him their fight will be a huge success, money-wise. He spoke about this on The MMA Hour.

“I’m very curious what the Pay Per View sales, or the pay-per-views, did for this fight,” he said. “You know, I think I think me versus Aljo could double it. Or I could double it. Sorry. I don’t feel the pressure. I think the fights are gonna do the numbers it’s gonna do, not necessarily have to sell the fight. I just think it’s going to, you know, be twice as engaging.”

O’Malley recently renegotiated his contract with the UFC. He was asking for a portion of the PPV buys of his title fight, better known as “PPV points.” These are usually reserved for the champions and bigger stars. Unfortunately, O’Malley was not able to get this deal done but knows that he will be bringing the eyes of the fans and their wallets.

“It sucks because the champ obviously gets the pay-per-view points that I wasn’t able to get on my terms,” he said. “So I’m not really, it’s different, you know, if I do get that, maybe I tried to push it a little more, you know, but at the end of the day, I want it to do really well. You know, Aljo is gonna send me a little percentage of it, he said, so I think it will still do really well as far as the number put on it. I’d say just twice as good as whatever this one did.”

O’Malley aligned himself for this title shot by defeating the number one ranked Petr Yan back in October of last year. He chose to sit out and wait for his shot while Sterling vs. Cejudo was made. Now that he is the number one contender he plans of being the next man to face and take out Sterling, although a date has not yet been set.
