UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley likes the sound of a crossover fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Over the weekend, ‘Money’ returned to the ring for an exhibition rematch with John Gotti III, the grandson of American mafioso John Gotti. While the bout went off without a hitch—minus a moment in the second round where Mayweather literally fired the referee—there really wasn’t much to write home about.
Still, O’Malley found some entertaining highlights from the scrap online. In particular, Mayweather’s slick striking that dominated the eight-round bout from bell to bell.
“The first couple of highlights I watched from like round one and three, Floyd was piecing him up, looking good as f*ck. Like pull 2’s, like, it was pretty f*cking sick,” O’Malley said during a recent episode of his TimboSugarShow podcast with coach Tim Welch.
Sean O’Malley is 100% on Board for a Fight with Floyd Mayweather
O’Malley has never been shy about wanting to test his skills in the sweet science. In the last couple of years, he’s called out fighters like Ryan Garcia, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, and even Canelo Alvarez. Now, ‘Sugar’ has his sights set on a dance inside the squared circle with the 50-0 superstar out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“Me vs Floyd? I would love that, that would be crazy. Just get him right at the end, put him out, and put him in,” O’Malley said when asked about a potential fight with Mayweather. “Exhibition sh*t? 100% I will do it once I’m done with MMA.”

For now, O’Malley will focus on the task at hand—that being a bantamweight title defense against one of the division’s most dominant forces, Merab Dvalishvili. The two will tussle on September 14 when the promotion heads to Sphere in Las Vegas for a Noche UFC event unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
O’Malley will headline the event against Dvalishvili six months removed from his five-round shellacking of Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera at UFC 299. A month before that, ‘The Machine’ earned the right to be the next man in line with a unanimous decision victory over former two-division titleholder Henry Cejudo.
Dvalishvili has won 10 straight in the division—a streak that dates back to September 15, 2018.
