Sean Brady put Joaquin Buckley through three rounds of wrestling control at UFC 328 and walked out with a wide decision win.

Brady defeated Buckley by unanimous decision at Prudential Center in Newark, with the judges scoring it 30-25, 30-25, and 30-27. The win came on the same main card where King Green submitted Jeremy Stephens in Round 1 and Yaroslav Amosov submitted Joel Alvarez with an arm-triangle choke.

Brady entered the fight off a knockout loss to Michael Morales, only the second defeat of his pro career. Buckley was also trying to rebound after Kamaru Usman snapped his six-fight winning streak. Brady made the reset fight one-sided by getting Buckley down early and keeping him stuck there.

UFC posted Brady’s decision win below:

Brady controlled Buckley from the first takedown

Buckley opened with size and power, but Brady closed distance and got the fight to the mat in Round 1. Once Brady reached mount, Buckley spent the rest of the round defending punches, submission threats, and position changes.

Round 2 followed the same pattern. Brady opened with a head kick and spinning attack, then quickly put Buckley back down. He moved to side control, attacked a kimura, regained mount, and kept landing from top while Buckley struggled to create space.

UFC highlighted Brady’s control here:

Buckley’s corner tried to keep him locked in before the final round.

“I still believe you.”

The belief did not change the fight. Buckley defended the first single-leg attempt in Round 3, but Brady switched to a double-leg and put him down again. Brady worked from mount, mixed body and head shots, and finished the fight with another long stretch of top control.

Brady, a ranked UFC welterweight, is back in the win column after the Morales loss. Buckley, who rebuilt himself at welterweight after moving down from middleweight, now has back-to-back losses to Usman and Brady.

This was not complicated. Brady got the takedowns, won the positions, and made the scorecards brutal. For more UFC 328 results, Jim Miller extended his UFC wins record with a first-round guillotine earlier in the night.
