Leon Edwards hoped to get back to his winning ways at UFC London against Sean Brady.

Emanating from the iconic O2 Arena in ‘The Big Smoke,’ the former welterweight world champion stepped back into the main event spotlight for a high-stakes scrap with the surging contender—the winner potentially securing themselves a future shot at the 170-pound crown.

Round 1

Things immediately get underway with Edwards and Brady swinging in the center of the Octagon. Edwards sticks Brady with a left hand as Brady tries to put pressure on early. Brady lands with a left of his own and the two clinch up. Brady lands a calf kick on the break and Edwards gives him one right back. We get another clinch in the center of the Octagon. On the break, Brady connects again, this time with a solid combination.

Brady lands another left hand as the two fight in the clinch once again. Brady connects with a body kick and Edwards counters with a left to the dome. Brady connects with another combination and has been the clear aggressor through the first four minutes of the fight. Brady pushes Edwards to the cage and peppers the former champ with some shots in the clinch. Brady trips Edwards, putting ‘Rocky’ on the mat with 20 seconds left in the round.

There’s not enough time for Brady to do anything substantial on the ground, but the takedown will likely win him the round.

Round 2

Brady comes out and catches Edwards off guard with a lightning-fast double-leg takedown attempt. Edwards stays upright against the fence before getting dragged down. Brady gets the top position with well over four minutes left in the round. Brady quickly moves to Edwards’ back and starts softening up ‘Rocky’ with some strikes. Brady slaps on the body triangle to keep control of Edwards.

Edwards slowly tries to fight his way out of the position, forcing Brady to back into half-guard. Brady goes fishing for a kimura. ‘Rocky’ defends, but that just allows Brady to mount Edwards back and reign down strikes. Edwards rolls to his back and rides out the remainder of the round clinging onto Brady for dear life.

Round 3

Sean Brady comes out with a couple of quick body kicks and continues to bring the pressure. Edwards lands a nice uppercut and Brady shoots for a takedown. Edwards fends it off and tries to shoot for his own takedown, but essentially invites Brady to grab his neck and take him down with ease. A mere 90 seconds into the round, Brady fully mounts Edwards.

Brady continues to move with Edwards and lands some stinging shots. Edwards is unable to fight his way back up, surrendering another round to Brady.

Round 4

Brady punches his way in close with a combination that connects. Brady continues to be aggressive, backing up Brady with strikes before scoring another takedown against the fence with more than four minutes remaining in the penultimate round.

Before long, Brady caught Edwards in a guillotine choke, leaving Edwards with no choice but to tap out.

Official Result: Sean Brady def. Leon Edwards via submission (single-arm guillotine choke) at 1:39 of Round 4.
