Scott Coker Says Bellator Ready To Make Brazilian Star A Contract Following Her Release From UFC

Earlier on Friday UFC head honcho Dana White delivered news that he’s releasing former women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg from promotion. This whole fiasco comes following a public spat with Cyborg over Amanda Nunes rematch.

Cyborg just finished her UFC contract with a decision win over Felicia Spencer last month at UFC 240. She was expected to re-sign with promotion for one more fight. But after Cyborg’s recent criticism on Dana White and Joe Rogan’s biased commentary promotion has had enough of her and closed her chapter.

As of now, Cyborg is a free agent and can join any promotion. Bellator’s Scott Coker told MMA Junkie that he is ready to make Brazilian star a contract.

“That’s great news; I’ll be calling (Cyborg’s manager) Audie (Attar) in the next five minutes.”

Coker has an amicable relationship with Cyborg as he promoted several of her fights when she was under Strikeforce banner.

Scott Coker already brought in former UFC contenders in Bellator like Rory MacDonald, Gegard Mousasi, Chael Sonnen, Ryan Bader, Tito Ortiz, Frank Mir, Wanderlei Silva, and Roy Nelson.

Coker also denied the claim White made that Cyborg is scared to rematch Nunes.

“I don’t even know what to say about that,” said Coker. “Cyborg isn’t afraid of anybody.”

White who has had a rocky relationship with Cyborg over the years and things got more frosty in the lead up to UFC 240.

Do you think Cyborg should sign with Bellator?
