Santiago Ponzinibbio: ‘If RDA Doesn’t Want To Fight Me, I Will Go Knock Tyron Woodley Out’

Top Welterweight Contender Santiago Ponzinibbio Is Tired Of Waiting For Rafael dos Anjos, So Now He Wants Tyron Woodley Fight Instead

Earlier this month from Las Vegas Nevada, UFC welterweight division got a big shakeup at UFC 235 PPV event when Kamaru Usman went on to defeat Tyron Woodley to capture the title, meanwhile in the same card former ONE and Bellator champion Ben Askren successfully made his Octagon debut by picking up a controversial submission win over Robbie Lawler.

So that means division’s field is fully open in terms of qualified contenders and ranked no. 7 Argentinian welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio who’s riding on a seven-fight win streak is so tired of waiting for Rafael Dos Anjos. “The Ponz” said if RDA isn’t ready to fight him he will take on top contender Tyron Woodley. “The reality is, Dos Anjos said in the media that he wanted this fight, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t want this fight. He never asked for it in the U.S., never made any noise to make it happen. He asked for it in Brazil so he wouldn’t look like a pu—y, but the truth is he doesn’t want to fight me.

“I need to fight, man. This is one of the best moments of my career, I’m ready to become world champion and I don’t want to stay inactive. Since Dos Anjos really doesn’t want to fight me, I think Tyron Woodley is a great fight. I’ve showed time and time again I’m ready to become champion.”

Ponzinibbio’s said his resume speaks itself, no doubt he deserves a shot at former champion Tyron Woodley.

”I’ve done more than Tyron did when he first fought for the belt. I believe I’m ready to fight him,” Ponzinibbio said. “I will knock Tyron out and then I’ll fight for the title and knock Usman out. I will be the next welterweight champion in 2019.”

As for Tyron Woodley is concerned, he’s in the hope of getting an instant rematch with Usman, while ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ who underwent surgery to repair a double hernia is already booked against the former interim champion, Colby Covington next.

Also, more action is coming this Saturday, as top welterweight contenders, Darren Till meets Jorge Masvidal in the main headliner meanwhile Leon Edwards clashes against Gunnar Nelson in the UFC London.
