Conor McGregor is yet to pick an exact return date but his longtime coach John Kavanagh said that he’s been doing “all the facets of MMA training again.”

Undeniably, fans have been excited about the nearing return of “The Notorious.” And surprisingly, one of them is Brazilian MMA legend Royce Gracie.

Royce is entertained

According to Gracie, McGregor is like any other superstar fighter who has had his ups and downs. But nevertheless, his skill and ability to entertain the fans never fade.

“Conor McGregor can put up a show and he’s a very good fighter,” Gracie told Mirror Fighting in an exclusive interview. “He knows strategy.”

“Sometimes he wins fast and sometimes he loses,” he added. “People talk trash about him when he loses but hey, if you’ve never lost, you’ve never fought. He’s always exciting to watch because you never know what’s going to happen, he comes to fight and every time he gets in, it’s a good fight.”

Times have changed

Gracie fought and made a name for himself in the early days of the UFC. He’s one of the pioneers of MMA and looking at the sport today, the jiu-jitsu master admitted that things have changed as it is now about who gets the job done.

“In the beginning it was a style against a style, today it’s not that anymore, it’s a fighter against a fighter and who has the best strategy, so anything can happen.”

McGregor has previously said he’s aiming for a welterweight title fight against Kamaru Usman. However, a number of elite lightweights are also gunning for him. Whoever McGregor faces in his return is up to the UFC, what’s important is he manages to get back healthier and stronger.
