Roxanne Modafferi vs. Sarah Kaufman is going down July 23rd

Ten pounds south of Cyborg and the rest of the Strikeforce 145lb division, there’s a plethora of female talent that wants to put fist-to-face as much as I want to put globs of butter into this H&H bagel. Sarah Kaufman currently stands atop the division with a perfect 11-0 record, and she plans to return to unstoppable frate trane mode on July 23rd as Strikeforce continues to sort out fighters for their inevitable 135lb women’s tournament. Before you burst a blood vessel dwelling on it, yes, ‘frate train’ is spelled correctly, and yes, the tournament is going to happen. Let’s move on…

Roxanne Modafferi is fresh off her split decision win over Tara LaRosa at Moosin in a fight that could easily go down as female fight of the year. Outside of a lump on the back of her head and a swollen fist from superman (superwoman?) punch that crumbled Tara to the canvas, Roxy is ready to jump back into the cage to snatch Kaufman’s belt, playground style. These are two of the best 135lb fighters in the world, and Strikeforce is actually going to make this happen. Props to Scott Coker for giving the best female fighters a place to resolve their differences, and props to Fake Scott Coker for keeping us aware of what’s going on with Strikeforce on Twitter.
