This past Saturday, Bethe Correia improved her professional MMA record to 9-0; and her record over the 4 Horsewomen to 2-0. Marina Shafir would be the next in line to stop the Brazilian Kung Fu master, but Shafir isn’t contracted with the UFC (and also fights in another weight class), leaving Correia’s main target, the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey, next in her sights. Before Corriea was even out of the Octagon on Saturday, Rousey was texting UFC President, Dana White, saying she wanted to ‘choke a Bethe.’
Okay, not exactly, but according to DFW in the post-fight scrum, as Corriea was talking during the post-fight interview, Rousey was texting him: ‘I want the fight. I want it now. I want it before someone else beats her.’
White told her (in what I assume/like to pretend) his best Jules Winnfield impression: ‘We’re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what’s Fonzie?’ Which we all know is cool. White went on to say that there’s a ‘long list for Rousey waiting right now, so we’ll see what happens.’ Which leads me to believe that despite Ronda’s ability to ‘move the needle’, Dana’s wallet still says “Bad Motherf***er” on it.
