Happy Royal Rumble day. The Sunday Morning Rumor Mill always draws the best number.
On Royal Rumble Sunday, it’s just another remainder that the worlds of MMA and pro wrestling may be closer than ever. There was a time when the WWE and the UFC went out of their way to put distance between their brands; that time is no more.
As always these are rumors that have been talked about behind closed doors between MMA higher ups, so take them as MMA rumors.
Start counting down from 10 to 1 wherever you are, hit your entrance music than rush in to read your Sunday Morning Rumor Mill.
- Before a possible retirement match between Michael Bisping vs. Rashad Evans reports popped up, rumors circled that Vitor Belfort was suppose to headline the March London card. Belfort is now in the UFC’s doghouse for turning down other fightst that could have helepd some thinner cards and the chance at getting one more fight versus Bisping was recently taken off the table from the Brazilian.
- Mixed rumors have been coming from all angles about the possibility of Ronda Rousey joining the 2018 women’s Royal Rumble tonight. Betting odds still have the former UFC bantamweight champion as a leading favorite and if Rousey shows up at the WWE Royal Rumble it is assumed she will in fact win it.
- Huge if true but there may be one more chance for Brock Lesnar to get an UFC fight. Rumors are Lesnar’s contract with the WWE runs through only April. The pro wrestling promo has the option to extend the deal out to August but if Lesnar wants a summer fight with the UFC, the three sides could come to a deal that works for everyone.
- Nate Diaz will forever be linked to Conor McGregor and rumor is his comeback is connected to his former rival as well. With a planned summer 2018 return to the UFC for Diaz, rumors are a possible third fight with McGregor is close to dead. It looks like Team Diaz may have given up on the idea of waiting for McGregor to ever comeback to the UFC cage.
