Rogers doesn’t care what BJJ belt you have…or he has

In an interview with MMAFanhouse, Rogers said he would be ‘God of MMA’ if he knocked out Fedor. God of MMA? That sounds like something Kenny Rice would say about Bas Rutten before Inside MMA. Brett Roger’s first three MMA fights have not gone past a minute, he also KOd a guy in nine seconds and we all remember that Arlovski KO that occurred in twenty-two seconds (nearly three minutes faster than Fedo Emelianenko). Dude used jiu-jitsu in those bouts but in an another interview with MMAFanhouse, Rogers says he has no clue what BJJ belt he is and he really doesn’t even care.

I train in jiu jitsu, but mostly my jiu jitsu is defensive. Obviously, I prefer to stand and bang. But I can do what I have to do. If it does go to the ground, I can do what I need to do to get back up and make him pay for it. I’m going to be the dominant force in the cage, and if he tries to take me out of my game, I’ll make him pay for it.

When asked about what Brazilian jiu-jitsu rank he is, Rogers admitted he had no idea.

Man, I have no clue. I don’t rank myself with belts and I don’t care about other people’s belts. To me, that can be solved with a punch to the head or a punch to the body. Most of my jiu jitsu is just about getting out of bad situations. I want to win my fight by knockout.

The only time we’ve seen Rogers jiu-jitsu on display was during his EliteXC Abongo Humphrey fight, one of only two fights in Rogers MMA career that has gone past the first round. Fair play, who cares about BJJ when you have enough punching power to break apart molecules. [Source]
