Yair Rodriguez And Brian Ortega Will Return AT UFC Mexico
UFC head honcho Dana White during today’s summer press conference confirms that featherweight standouts Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez will fight on UFC Mexico fight card on September 21.
“He will, Yair Rodriguez will fight in Mexico City. Yeah, he (Brian Ortega) will too,” White said.
Yair Rodriguez last fought at UFC Denver where he defeated Chan Sung Jung aka “Korean Zombie” with a last-second knockout in the fifth round back in November, before that Rodriguez snapped his eight-fight winning streak after suffering a defeat from hands of the Frankie Edgar.
White also said both fighters would remain on the card whether they fight each other or not or face different foe.
Brian Ortega last fought at UFC 231 where he snapped his undefeated record via fourth-round TKO loss to Max Holloway back in December.
UFC Mexico fight card still has no main headliner bout yet, and it takes place inside Mexico City Arena.
