Report: Stipe Miocic Vs. Francis Ngannou Slated For Heavyweight Title Clash At UFC 220

The UFC is close to finalizing a heavyweight title clash between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou for UFC 220 on Jan. 20 in Boston.

One of the most anticipating heavyweight title fight in MMA has been booked. MMAJunkie first reported the news and was afterward confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani tonight (Dec. 6, 2017) that champion Stipe Miocic will take on surging contender Francis Ngannou in a potentially dangerous match-up confirmed for the main event of the PPV event from Boston. The co-event features a light heavyweight title bout between Daniel Cormier and Volkan Oezdemir.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto also tweeted to confirm the news.

Miocic will attempt to become the longest-reigning heavyweight champion in UFC history. He tied the division’s record of two consecutive title defenses in May with a knockout win over Junior dos Santos.

With Francis Ngannou’s insane highlight knockout over Alistair Overeem in the first round at UFC 218 last weekend, the rising heavyweight knockout specialist has earned a shot against Stipe Miocic.

Ngannou and Miocic have finished their past four foes in the first round. Ngannou’s recent KO over Andrei Arlovski and Overeem have catapulted the Cameroon to the top of the UFC heavyweight division.
