‘Cowboy’ Has To Wait Little Long To Face Conor Mcgregor As He’s Slated To Meet Alexander Hernandez

The promotion’s debut card on ESPN continues to stack up with some intriguing fights, as former welterweight contender Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone (34-11 MMA) will make his return to the lightweight division to meet rising prospect Alexander Hernandez (10-1 MMA) at UFC on ESPN+ 1 fight card on January 19th from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as reported by MMAjunkie.

That means Donald Cerrone wouldn’t get a chance to meet former two-division champion Conor Mcgregor. As ‘Cowboy’ hints at a possible showdown with Irishman last month on his Instagram saying waiting on “Notorious” to accept the fight.

Cerrone, 35, is coming off of the biggest win of his career after submitting Mike Perry in the first round at UFC Denver last month and earned a Performance of the Night bonus. With this win ‘Cowboy’ extended his UFC welterweight record to 6-4. Last time Donald Cerrone fought at lightweight back in 2015 where he suffered a first-round TKO loss against then-champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Hernandez (10-1) has become a hot property in the UFC since making his Octagon debut in early 2018. He stepped in on a short notice bout to make his debut against Beneil Dariush back in March, “The Great” with ease knock out Dariush in just 42-seconds. Most recently Hernandez 26, picked up a unanimous decision win over Olivier Aubin-Mercier in July.

UFC on ESPN+ 1 is taking place on January 19th with the main headliner features a flyweight super-fight between division’s current champion Henry Cejudo against UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw.
